WOULD YOU MAKE IT BACK?
KNOW YOUR PLANE. MEASURE YOUR TURNBACK. SEE THE RESULTS.
Get the procedure here. Record data from a single flight. Practice the turnback maneuver at a safe altitude. Sending us the recording. We will put it all together and send you a visualization of what your turnback would look like at your airport from your runways. You will also receive plots of your takeoff, turnback, and glide data, and your performance numbers.
NEWS: Since Charlie Precourt's article in the May 2021 issue of EAA Sport Aviation we are getting a great response from pilots across the country. You have been asking at record levels for the procedure to record your turnbacks at a safe altitude. Please keep it up! The program is no-cost and will help improve general aviation safety. Many have already received their flight summary report showing their plane's performance.
DOWNLOAD THE PROCEDURE AND TIPS HERE
After recording your turnbacks, follow the instructions in the procedure to email the results to us. We will send a report back to you showing your plots, flight parameters, and 3D visualization of your turnback (see below). At no cost. Really. We are trying to encourage pilots to share their data (anonymously) with the community and this is our gift to you.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
To record your flight you can use
- ForeFlight attached to a Sentry or Stratus or
- An SD Card in your G1000 or
- Other flight recording devices that record 1 record per second to faster. See the "Tip" document for further detail, or write to RickM@InFlightMetrics.com to work out any special situations.
